A Question

Here is a blogger response question.

Recently I read Mark 6:4 where it says "Jesus said to them "Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor."

I was confused by this verse for a while and after talking with a friend I think I have a better grasp of it. However I would like to hear what you have to say. So rack your brain and fire off some synapses and let me know what you think.

  1. Well here's what I think. The people who know you best, your family and close friends, see all your foibles and faults. OK, so Jesus didn't have any faults. But I'm sure he had his bad days! So his family and friends saw him as Joseph the carpenter's son, the guy who can't stand beets or brussel sprouts, the guy next door. So I think that it may have been hard for them to see him as the Savior. He was just their brother/son/neighbor! That's just my two cents.

  2. I totally agree with Coasterkim and was going to write about the same thing! We actually just talked about this the other day at my small group. People that were Jesus' next door neighbors probably heard about all he was doing and was like "Who Jesus?.. little Jesus?.. the carpenter's son?... NO way!" They were the ones that saw him doing his everyday life.. growing up!
