Philly day of Phun!

Since I am unemployed my Dad asked me if I wanted to go to Philly today. I of course said sure because unemployment can be boring.

I got to their house and we headed out. Our first stop was The Apple Tree for a good start, breakfast. I had scrambled eggs, white toast, bacon, coffee and some of the best hash browns around.

Then it was off to Philly. Our first stop in Philly was The Constitution Museum. It was great a lot of interactive stuff to do and interesting tid bits all around. Did you know the Billy Graham once worked as a Fuller Brush salesman? Me neither. Then we went to the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank for their exhibit Money in Motion. This was also very interactive and really great. My mom said the most interesting part was how you got in. You had to go through a metal detector. But this one was not your ordinary metal detector. They would open up a door you step inside and it closes behind you. Then you stand in this Star Trek-ish tube while they scan you for any metal, food, drink, flu viruses or suspicious skin rashes. Then the door on the other side opens and off you go. The cool part at the end they present you with a postcard and (get this) $100.00 in cash; magnifying glass and scotch tape not included. Then we went to the Comcast Building. I would have liked to scream at someone for the cable prices but it was too nice a day to get arrested. We sat in their lobby and watched the World's largest LED screen. I tried to get them to switch it to ESPN, but they wouldn't. What was on there was very impressive and crystal clear. Then it was back to the car. On the way back I saw a couple guys doing the old shell game on the sidewalk. They were using soda bottle caps instead of shells but it was still the same game. I kept walking and soon passed a guy standing by himself with a megaphone. He wan't saying anything at all just standing there. My theory is he is the lookout and if the cops show up he says some covert phrase that might not be noticed as a signal. Something like "Oh crud, the cops, the cops, the freaking cops!!! Run, run run!!!" Or maybe not. Interesting side note, did you know W.C. Fields worked at Philly's Strawbridge and Clothier for a while? Me neither. We then got to have dinner with our friends Dave and Barbara Frank. It was delicious. We then headed home to let out and feed the dog and do a sweep of the house for accidents. All in all a really good day. So thanks to Mom, Dad, Aunt Barbara, Uncle Dave and all you residents of Philly; give yourselves a round of applause.
