Our Economic Crisis
Let me just say I love sports. I mean I LOVE SPORTS! There is nothing better than a relaxing afternoon with some sporting event on. It doesn't matter if it is Penn State Football, Bengals Football (yes they still have a team), Penguins Hockey, UND Hockey or NASCAR. Sports are great. However as much as I enjoy sports is it really polite for these guys who are getting paid to play a game to ask for millions and MILLIONS of dollars? These salaries seem outrageous on a normal day, but I think we can agree things are not normal. With news of company layoffs or companies going out of business. With our unemployment rates skyrocketing and people fearing that each day may be their last. With the price of everything going up and no end in sight. Is it really the right thing for these athletes to be holding out so they can get another 10 or 15 million dollar bump in their paycheck. I am living paycheck to paycheck and these guys have the gaul to demand more money. And what's worse is they are getting it. The George Steinbrenners of the world must be printing money or have the key to Fort Knox because the salaries for these players keeps going up and up. Hopefully there are players giving some of their money to worthy causes. Now I am not saying these guys should not be paid, I am just saying keep it reasonable. And PS raising the price for tickets and concessions is not the way to pay the salaries. Because if we can't come to the games anymore who will sign your paychecks then?
