This movie review is rated XL for whole lotta movies. No drum roll though.
Movie #1 The classic Mel Brooks "Blazing Saddles" starring Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder and Alax Karras. This is by far 5 penguins. How can you argue with the movie that rendered such quotes as "Telegram for Mongo", "What in the wide wide world of sports is going on here?!" and although not politically correct but still funny "Dock that chink a days pay for nappin on the job". This movie would probably be a lot shorter if they made it today.
Movie #2 "Breakdown" starring Kurt Russell, Kathleen Quinlan and JT Walsh. Russell and Quinlan are traveling cross country when they have car trouble. What comes after that not even AAA could help fix. Walsh kidnaps Quinlan and it is up to Russell to find her. Although they may have been able to send a couple tow trucks after the last scene. 5 penguins.
Movie #3 One of my favorite Jim Carrey movies is "Bruce Almighty". Down on his luck Carrey meets God (played by Morgan Freeman) and gets his powers. Carrey then does go a little power crazy, but can any of us say we wouldn't. 5 Penguins.
Movie #4 "Flashpoint" stars Treat Williams and Kris Kristofferson. These two are underpaid border patrol officers who stumble on an old Jeep with a skeleton and almost 1 million dollars inside. Do they keep their jobs or run off to Mexico only time (about 90 min) will tell. 3 penguins.
Movie #5 "Miracle at St Anna" gets 3 penguins. It is a story of 4 American soldiers caught behind enemy lines in a Tuscan village. They stay there taking care of a little boy and waiting for contact from their unit. The moral of this film is "Revenge is a dish best served cold" or "It pays to have rich friends".
Movie #6 "Taking Chance" stars Kevin Bacon as a Marine officer who volunteers to escort the remains of another Marine back home. The deceased Marine was killed in combat. This is a true story. It is very heartwarming the treatment that Bacon receives on his journey. 5 penguins.
Movie #7 "Star Trek" Wow! Awesome! I don't consider myself a trekkie but this was a great movie. All of your favorite characters and catchphrases and a good story to boot. 5 penguins.
Movie #8 Last we have "X Men origins Wolverine" starring Hugh Jackman. Another home run and it is 2 for 2 for summer blockbusters. 5 penguins. This movie tells how Wolverine got his start and how he got his memory a little scrambled.
